In 1975 he graduated from Sverdlovsk Law Institute as a lawyer.
From 1975 to 1993 he worked as an employee of the Public Prosecution Office of the Russian Federation.
From 1993 to 2003 he worked as a top manager of commercial entities engaged in oil refining.
Since 2004 he has been working in CJSC Antipinsky Oil Refinery as its General Director (in October 2015 it was renamed JSC Antipinsky Refinery).
Deals with the day-to-day management of the refinery, ensures the implementation of corporate business plans.

Sergey Vladimirovich Murzin is responsible for modernization and development of the oil refinery in accordance with the approved medium-term and long–term business plans as well as for on-time preparation of engineering documentation.
