Judo Sensei Cup Winners Determined in Perm

17 April 2016

On April 17, Tyumen-Judo Olympic Training Center played off the medals of All-Russia Sensei Cup Judo Tournament,  where young men of junior age group under 15 competed for the prizes awarded by Novy Potok (New Stream) Regional Non-profit Organization. Novy Potok (New Stream) Regional Non-profit Organization and Antipinsky Oil Refinery JSC traditionally joined the event as general sponsors providing excellent conditions and great prizes. New Stream and the Antipinsky Oil Refinery have supported children’s sports including judo in Tyumen on multiple occasions.

The tournament was organized by the United Federation of Judo and Sambo, Novy Potok (New Stream) Regional Non-profit Organization, Tyumen-Judo Olympic Training Center, Russian Judo Federation and Sensei Uniform and Equipment Center.

This was the ninth time the tournament was held and this year it changed its status from regional to national, as it brought together a great number of participants from various constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Speaking at the grand opening ceremony, Sergei Valentinovich Kushkov, President of the United Federation of Judo and Sambo, and Ivan Grigorievich Ledovsky, member of the Management Board of Novy Potok (New Stream) Regional Non-profit Organization, wished young judokas success and honest uncompromising fights.

This year, the tournament features about 350 athletes from 33 teams representing 11 constituent entities of Russia. Fights in 10 weight categories were held simultaneously on four tatamis in the same manner as they are held during Russian championships organized in Tyumen. A video replay system was arranged helping greatly to resolve disputable moments on the tatamis.

The winning athletes of the competition included Grigory Shvetsov (weight category up to 34 kg, Magnitogorsk), Alan Khubiev (w/c  up to 38 kg, N. Urengoy), Danil Chaika (w/c  up to 42 kg, Trekhgorny), Stepan Synkin (w/c  up to 46 kg, N. Tagil), Gevorg Aslanyan (w/c  up to 50 kg, Chelyabinsk), Sergei Tonachev (w/c  up to 55 kg, Sverdlovsk Region), Artem Yuminov (w/c  up to 60 kg, Perm Territory), Javid Akhmedzade (w/c  up to 66 kg, Tyumen), Javad Husseinov (w/c  up to 73 kg, Tyumen) and Bulud Safarov (w/c  over 73 kg, Sverdlovsk Region).

In a hard-fought team competition, the Senior Cup went to the Perm Territory representatives, the Tyumen city team came in second and the Chelyabinsk team third.

Branded baseball caps from general sponsor New Stream were awarded to Leonid Volovich and Leonid Palchikov in the “Will to Win” category, Gulshet Baigireeva in the “Most Active Tournament Coach” category.
