On July 18, Antipinsky Oil Refinery opened up an Environmental Community Liaison Office. The project was initiated by Anatoly Karpov, Deputy of the RF State Duma for the Tyumen Region, ex-World Chess Champion. It has become a second Community Liaison Office of this kind opened up in the Tyumen Region, the first one was opened a day earlier at Porevit Plant in Yalutorovsk.
The meeting with the Deputy held at the Antipinsky Oil Refinery was attended by over 30 employees representing the refinery’s various subdivisions.
Opening the Environmental Community Liaison Office, Anatoly Karpov noted that the emergence of such liaison offices at industrial enterprises exemplifies openness to the public with respect to environmental protection issues. Local residents will be able to obtain information on the environmental conditions around the refinery and control the situation.
“Environmental matters are subject to special control at the refinery. The opening of the Environmental Community Liaison Office at the Antipinsky Oil Refinery means that the refinery’s management is ready for public control,” noted the Deputy.
In addition to environmental issues, the refinery’s employees discussed at the meeting with Anatoly Karpov the prospects for the world power sector and chess sport development in Russia. In their turn, the refinery’s employees told the Deputy about their emerging chess team which is planning to take part in citywide chess championships.
