Fire emergency response at a tank battery successfully exercised

Special annual tactical training exercises to practice the readiness of the rescue teams in case of emergency have been completed at Antipinsky Refinery. According to the scenario a blow-up of steam-and-gas mixture took place at one of the tank batteries followed by the fire outbreak and spill of oil products over the area of 5000 m2.
In total, 148 people have taken part in these drills including the personnel of the Tyumen Region Emergency Response Service, Center for Emergency, Rescue and Ecological Operations, Tyumen Center for Emergency Medicine.
“We do conduct such drills annually at various production facilities: in 2017 it was at the Atmospheric Residue Deep Conversion Unit, in 2018 the Elementary Sulfur Production Unit, and this year the first responders were involved in eliminating the combustion and oil spill at a tank battery. All the set tasks have been accomplished within the specified normative deadlines thanks to the accurate and integrated actions of Antipinsky Refinery personnel”, noted Alexander Babich, the Chief of Civil Defense and Emergency Management Department of Antipinsky Refinery, coordinator of the drills.
Following the results, the committee of the Central Office of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Tyumen region has rated the accomplished drilled as “excellent”.
