Antipinsky Oil Refinery, the main productive facility of New Stream Group
, successfully conducted an annual tactical special exercise. The event aimed at working out the actions to recover an emergency situation, involved for the first time a gas rescue team that was created on the basis of the plant’s emergency rescue unit in the Autumn of 2017 and consists of the company personnel.
According to the exercise script, one of the columns of the elemental sulfur unit was depressurized with a spill of sulfur. Recovery of the emergency involved special equipment, including oil skimmers and the fire train of the Siberian departmental protection detachment of the Russian railway transport, which enabled to localize the fire source in a very short time and skim off the spread oil product.
One of the most difficult stages of the exercise was to find and evacuate potential victims from the danger zone from a 20-meter height in gas-polluted air. Specialized mountaineering equipment was used to do so.
In total, the exercise involved more than 200 people, including employees of the Tyumen Regional Emergency Response Service, the Yekaterinburg branch of the Center for Emergency Salvage and Environmental Operations and several other emergency services. Besides working out the interaction between plant personnel and various rescue teams, the warning and communication systems were tested. All stages of the exercise were fulfilled within the time limits according to the regulations.
